According to the English and the German media, Pep Guardiola’s destination after this season was Manchester City. But according to the Daily Star, Pep has told his friends that he could snub City and join their fierce rivals Manchester United. Pep has always been attracted to club with great history and prestige and there is no doubt that which Manchester club will win the race if the decision is made on these lines. Manchester United on the other hand are in dilemma of their own as they have to decide whether Van Gaal is to be sacked or not.
One major factor which can be a hindrance to Pep’s move to Manchester United might be the availability of Jose Mourinho. As the United board now have an option to sack Van Gaal right now and appoint Mourinho as an immediate replacement rather than waiting till the end of the season for Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City’s owner Sheikh Mansour’s dream is for Pep to manage his side and get his side playing attractive football. Same is the case with Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich. But Guardiola a staunch Catalan nationalist and a believer in the “more than a club” philosophy would prefer a club like Manchester United than Chelsea and Manchester City.
