Spanish club Sevilla are reportedly concerned that Manchester United will try to sign their star center back Joules Kounde in January according to the English outlet Express. Kounde has a release clause of 80 million Euros and if United decide to pay it there is no way Sevilla can stop the transfer from happening. In the summer, Chelsea tried to sign Kounde but Sevilla held firm against an offer of £42.5million.

Manchester United have struggled defensively this season and so someone like Kounde would certainly be an upgrade over the current options. If Solskjaer does continue to play with a back 3, signing a center back becomes even more important. Raphael Varane has struggled with injuries this season and with Maguire terribly out of form, United are short of central defenders. Solskjaer doesn’t seem to trust Eric Bailly even though he was handed a new contract in the summer. So if they manage to sign Kounde, we can expect the Frenchman to come straight into the first team.
