According to the English outlet, The Sun, Barcelona are willing to listen to loan offers for their winger Ousmane Dembele. Dembele has had an injury ravaged career at Barcelona so far after an expensive move from Borussia Dortmund. Barcelona still would want to hold onto him as selling him at this moment would mean that they would incur a severe loss as Dembele’s injury record coupled with the Covid 19 impact would mean that clubs would not be willing to spend a lot. The report also claims, that Arsenal and Juventus are interested in the French winger at the moment but it remains to be seen which club wins to race to sign him on loan. A loan deal might just be perfect for Barcelona as they can reduce their wage bill temporarily and a change in scenery might just get the best out of Dembele.
Transfer Rumour Reliability
The Sun is the source of this transfer rumour and the English outlet are a Tier 4 source in our Football Transfer Sources Reliability Guide. A Tier 4 source is highly unreliable and not to be trusted unless other more reliable media source pick up the story.
Barcelona’s transfers post the Neymar sale to PSG have misfired massively with the likes of Coutinho and Dembele failing to succeed at the Camp Nou. With the financial impact of Covid 19, Barcelona might not be able to recoup the amount they spent on their failed transfers and might have to cut down on new transfers. The big problem, the Catalan club have at the moment is replacing Lionel Messi. Messi is getting older and Barcelona urgently need to plan for their future without their talisman. Their squad is not getting any younger as other first team players like Pique, Suarez and Busquets too need replacements urgently.
