After his match winning performance in the EFL Cup final, Manchester United fans would be desperate to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic sign an extension to his contract which expires this summer. Earlier, there was speculation that the Swede won’t sign an extension if United don’t qualify for the Champions League next season. But according to the BBC, the Swede’s decision on whether to sign an extension or not doesn’t depend on Champions League qualification

“We have another two months of the season to go,” Ibrahimovic said.

“Let’s see how I feel, the situation. Somebody made up a story that if we don’t qualify for the Champions League I will not extend. It has nothing to do with that.”

It is clear that Zlatan is happy at Old Trafford and that he actually wants to play until he is at the top of his game. At the end of the season, there is a chance that Zlatan might decide to hang up his boots or move to different league like the MLS or even China. With United in sixth position at the moment, winning the Europa League seems like an easier way to qualify for the Champions League than finishing in the top 4 in the league.
