Manchester United lost to Spurs at White Hart Lane with yet another lifeless display on the pitch. Spurs have gone from strenth to strength under Pochettino where as United have regressed badly under Van Gaal there seems to be no hope while the Dutchman is still at Old Traffrord. Spurs actually wanted to sign Van Gaal and the Dutchman would have signed for them if not for United stepping in.

Lingard in the center,Mata on the right

A 6 year old kid will tell you that this won’t work. Mata is a highly technical player who is comfortable on the ball and is physically limited to do a lot of defending. Where as Lingard is a pacy youngster who has a few tricks up his sleeve but is still raw. So common logic dictates that you play Lingard on the right so that Danny Rose can be pushed back and Mata can use his talent to get in between the lines and play some killer balls in the final third. Lingard was anonymous the whole match and all the goals came from the Spurs left flank.

Young as a striker for Rashford

If Van Gaal’s starting lineup was bad then his half-time substitution was crazy. Ashley Young, a winger who is coming back after a long injury was asked to play as a striker against the meanest defence in the Premier League. Young struggled as expected and United’s attack didn’t improve a bit.

These are some things which you won’t expect someone at Van Gaal’s level to do. It is clear that his time at United is over and United fan will want this season to get over as fast as possible
