Man United interested in signing German star for free

1 minute

According to the English outlet, The  Independent, Manchester United are interested in signing Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger this summer on a free transfer. Rudiger whose current contract is expiring in the summer is also being monitored by clubs around Europe like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Tottenham. The report also mentions, that Real Madrid are currently in pole position to sign the German, as the terms of the contract they have informally offered are much more lucrative than what Chelsea is offering at the moment.

It is hard to see Rudiger move to a Premier League club especially if he has offers from Real and Bayern. But with Covid hitting the finances of the continental clubs much harder than the Premier League clubs, it might be possible that a club like Manchester United make the best offer financially.

Rudiger has improved remarkably under Tuchel after being sideline under Frank Lampard and now is one of Chelsea’s first names on the team sheet. It will certainly be a big loss for Chelsea, especially with Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpellicueta nearing the end of their careers.
