Naby Keita has been on Liverpool’s radar all summer. The fee reportedly quoted for him is in the range of £70m but Liverpool should go all out for him and make him their record signing. Keita who is a box to box midfielder will be an upgrade to Georginio Wijnaldum who was excellent in his first season. With Champions League football next season, Liverpool should be aiming higher and signing Keita will be a step in the right direction.
Keita is an all round midfielder who can pass, shoot, run , tackle and help the team in all phases of play will be an excellent fit in Klopp’s side. Keita has immense stamina and energy and these attributes will fit in perfectly at Klopp’s high pressing system.
With the signing of Salah, it is expected that Klopp will push Coutinho into a deeper role in a midfield trivote. Partnering Coutinho in midfield could be the combination of Henderson and Naby Keita. A solid double pivot behind Coutinho will help the Brazilian in expressing himself with much more freedom. A Keita-Henderson double pivot will provide Coutinho with defensive protection, support while pressing as well as numbers when attacking.
