According to The Daily Record, Manchester United want Paul Pogba to use his strong bond with his national teammate Antoine Griezmann to convince him to move to Old Trafford this summer. While financially, United will have no problems in matching the Frenchman’s release clause and wages, they will have a hard job convincing him to leave Madrid for Manchester United. It will become way more tougher, if United fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Currently in sixth position and with heavy competition for the top 4 spots this season, Mourinho needs his team to step up. Not qualifying for this season’s Champions League will mean that Mourinho has failed in his first season but it is highly unlikely that his job will be in danger.
Even in Antoine Griezmann moves to United, Mourinho will have multitude of problems in deciding where to fit him. Mourinho generally likes a physical center forward so Zlatan will continue as United’s number 9. With the wings already overloaded with various options, Griezmann will mean that Mourinho has to sell one of Martial, Mata or Rashford.
