Liverpool dropped two more points against West Ham after a 2-2 draw which saw their goalkeeper Karius making mistakes for both the goals. Karius seems to have lost confidence after the Bournemouth game and couldn’t take criticism from the TV pundits especially Gary Neville. Neville on the other hand would be quite please with himself with the amount of damage his words have caused to Liverpool’s title ambitions. It clearly shows that Karius’ mental strength is not upto the mark, teams will look to target him further. David De Gea faced the same situation in his first season where every mistake was scrutinized and teams look to physically threaten him.
But in the Spaniard’s case, his excellent reflexes meant that he made some world class saves and slowly regained his confidence. Physically he grew strong and adjusted well to the Premier League. Karius on the other hand hasn’t really made any notable contribution so far. Liverpool have played amazingly well this season and have outscored most of their opponents. With a more experienced goalkeeper, Liverpool could have collected full six points from the past two games. Lets take a look at Klopp’s options in January.
Jack Butland
Currently injured but is Premier League proven and looks set to have a bright future ahead of him, will be costly though.
Victor Valdes
Might be a shock buy , considering that he was a Manchester United player last season but the Spaniard seems to have rediscovered his form at Boro.
Jasper Cillessen
The Dutch goalkeeper hasn’t had many chances at Barcelona and would love to play every week. Maybe Klopp can convince Enrique and bring him on a loan deal.
Bernd Leno
Leno has consistently been one of the best keepers in the Bundesliga and Klopp definitely would have considered him before buying Karius.
