Jurgen Klopp’s summer transfer window will be key as the German will want to bring more of his type of players and clear any deadwood at the club. Liverpool’s owner need to back the German by entrusting him with a budget and not meddling with any transfer deals. The transfer policy for the past few seasons has been a disaster and Liverpool desperately need to get it right this time.
Klopp at Dortmund had a very distinctive style which meant that every player couldn’t fit the German’s requirements. He prefers a fast, vertical style of play which requires players with speed, skill and most importantly speed of thought. We have seen hints of the same at Liverpool but Klopp needs more time to drill his methods into his team.
Joe Allen
The Welsh Xavi’s style of recycling possession by maintaining control and playing short passes certainly hasn’t pleased any Liverpool fans till now and certainly will not please Klopp. Klopp whose central midfielders are full of energy and guile will not want Allen to play as a holding midfielder as the build up play becomes very slow.
Martin Skrtel
Skrtel has been a long and a loyal servant to Liverpool as their leader in defence. The biggest problem with him is his lack of pace which won’t allow Klopp to play a high line which he generally likes to to squeeze the opposition. Also Skrtel is not very good on the ball which is another drawback.
Christian Benteke
Benteke, this summer’s biggest signing has failed to make an impact at Liverpool. It is very tough to see him playing for Klopp next season as Klopp’s style is completely opposite of the style of play Christian Benteke thrives in.
Simon Mignolet
One transfer which all Liverpool fans will be glad to see is Simon Mignolet leaving the club. Although the Belgian has pulled off some amazing saves his eternal lack of confidence sees him make mistakes all the time. The only thing the Belgian is consistent in is making mistakes.
