First he was dropped from the starting lineup and then he was not given the armband when he came on. Wayne Rooney might be a looking at a difficult second half of the season ahead. Despite coming on after the break, Michael Carrick kept the armband on. While Rooney has been out of the team for a few weeks reportedly due to an injury,there are some rumours floating around about how Rooney showed up to training drunk.
The defeat to Stoke means that Van Gaal is actually very close to being sacked. The next game is only two days away, so he might be given time till the Chelsea game. But the way the team is playing,there is absolutely no certainity that United will play well against the defending champions. Wayne Rooney was one of the better players after coming on and should have got an well earned assist if not for the poor finishing of Marouane Fellaini. Speaking of Fellaini,it is quite obvious to everyone that he just doesn’t belong to the level which United are aspiring to reach.
