England has made impressive progress after the first round exit at the World Cup in Brazil. Before the draw against Italy in Turin,England had won 7 games out of 7. Also the fact that a draw against Italy in Italy is not considered a good result anymore,points to the fact that the mentality has changed. England aren’t afraid of the big guns anymore.
How England could lineup at Russia 2018
Looking at the lineup,we can comfortably say that many of these players will be world class in a couple of years. The likes of Sterling,Kane,Shaw,Jones are already playing at highest level for their respective clubs. Add to the mix a couple of players from the U-21 team which has been doing quite well,you will potential have a squad of winners. Only thing The FA has to do this time is to appoint a good manager. Roy Hodgson will be well into his 70s by the time Russia comes along and also England’s first round exit in Brazil doesn’t reflect well on his CV. The FA need to appoint someone immediately after the Euros so that the new manager has enough time to get the team playing his way. Guardiola might be free after his Bayern Munich contract comes to an end and even Mourinho might be interested as well. Whoever the coach is,the future certainly looks bright and there might just be a second Golden generation coming up,with the right guidance England can certainly win the World Cup in Russia.
