Arsene Wenger is expected to name a heavily rotated squad against Red Star Belgrade in their Europa League group game just like he did during the previous games. With City coming up on the weekend, Wenger has no reason to risk any of his first team players against a weak opposition at home like Red Star.
Arsenal Expected Starting lineup against Red Star Belgrade
David Ospina is expected to be in between the goalposts in place of Petr Cech. Cech’s form this season has been shaky and Ospina has a decent chance getting more game time if he puts in a good performance in the Europa League.
Callum Chambers has returned from injury but this game might be too soon for him so we can expect to see the back three of Elneny, Holding and Debuchy. Only Rob Holding among the three is recognised center back. The wing back positions will be occupied by youngsters Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson. Although, this is not their natural positions, at this stage of their career, they would be glad to just be part of the first team setup and get some game time.
Jack Wilshere will continue to play in the Europa League as fans hope to see him one day start a Premier League game. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are also expected to continue as the “Europa League specialists” in attack. Alex Iwobi who has lost his starting position in the League due to Mesut Ozil’s return is also expected to start.
