Manchester United push to sign star before his wedding

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United want to complete the transfer of Alvaro Morata before his wedding. Morata who has emerged as the top target for United this summer is a squad player at Real Madrid. The fees quoted in various outlets hover around 70M Euros, which is an insane amount for a player who wasn’t even the first choice striker at his club.

Manchester United have been overspending in the transfer market for the past few years and it looks like Real Madrid are going to fleece them again. United’s original target Antoinne Griezmann decided to stay at Atletico at least for a season more because of their transfer ban which bars them from signing any new players. The lack of quality center forwards in the market certainly has impacted the transfer fees being quoted these days. Pure goalscorers are rare commodities now and talented but unproven players like Morata also cost a hefty sum.
