This summer, Jose Mourinho is expected to continue his overhaul of the Manchester United squad. Although, the changes are not expected to be as drastic as last year, there are many players in the United squad whose futures hang in the balance. WeAf take a look at 4 players who are likely to leave this summer.

Chris Smalling

After Lindelof’s signing, United have excess of center backs with Bailly, Rojo, Jones, Lindelof and Smalling in the squad. With extra cover available with the likes of Blind and Carrick, the center back list is surely up for a trim this summer. Reports suggest that Jones will be given a chance to impress Mourinho where as Smalling’s future is over.

Wayne Rooney

Rooney was widely expected to leave this summer as he is no more a first team regular at Old Trafford. But there have been no reports of any interested club even from China so far. But Rooney would want to be a regular as this is a world cup year and Rooney would love to board that plane to Russia.

Ashley Young

Young has been impressive whenever he has been called upon by Mourinho in a variety of roles. But it is clear that the former Villa man is no longer anywhere near the standard of Manchester United and if he wants to play regularly must leave the club. But it seem that Young is happy with his bit-part role and he knows that no other club will pay him the wages he is on currently so him pushing for a deal this summer is unlikely.

Matteo Darmian

Darmian who had a strong end to the season is linked heavily with Juventus after their first choice right back Dani Alves has left the club. Jose Mourinho wouldn’t want to let go of the Italian but it will be hard for Darmian to say no to a move to the Italian champions.
