It shows the importance Mourinho is giving to the EFL cup as United face rivals Liverpool on the weekend. The game against Liverpool is one which will truly test whether United have in them to challenge for the Premier League title. Mourinho knows that winning the Premier League title is a long shot and the EFL cup presents the easiest way of winning a trophy in his first season at Old Trafford.
With Martial and Rashford having played against Reading, they should be rested against Hull especially Martial who is in scintillating form and is expected to start against Liverpool. Club captain Wayne Rooney will possibly miss out against Liverpool so will have another chance to go past Sir Bobby Charlton’s record he shares currently.
