Mourinho wants Arsenal star at Old Trafford to kick-start his overhaul

Jose Mourinho wants former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck back at Old Trafford. According to The Express, Mourinho is keen to sign the Arsenal star to start the overhaul of the United squad this summer. Welbeck’s finest two game in a United shirt were against Mourinho’s Real Madrid side when the Englishman was preferred instead of Wayne Rooney to start as the number 10 by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Welbeck who was given the specific duty to mark Xabi Alonso by Ferguson had a major impact during the second leg even though United lost the match and the tie. Alonso was Real’s engine at that time and Welbeck denied him the space and time to operate normally like the Spaniard does. Mourinho has a penchant for players who can carry out specific tactical orders and Welbeck has proved himself in this regard. But Welbeck moved to Arsenal because he felt that he was neglecting his talent as the lead striker and it remains to  be seen whether Mourinho is able to convince him to to return to Old Trafford where he won’t be the lead striker.
