Manchester United ended their losing streak against Northampton in the English League Cup. Although they dominated most of the game, their performance was not convincing and many key players remain badly out of form. Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo need to improve a lot, with the latter especially having a horrible match. With Luke Shaw doubtful for the game against Leicester, Mourinho might play Darmian as left back instead.

Wayne Rooney who had another poor game in the League Cup is expected to be dropped after playing for 90 minutes. Most of the English media also has turned against the England captain and there is enormous pressure against Mourinho to drop him. Carrick who was excellent against Northampton will not be expected to start as the 35 year old will find it difficult to play two matches within a short duration. Many United fans will want to see Ander Herrera in midfield but Mourinho has trusted Pogba-Fellaini so far and is expected to continue with the pairing.
