According to the Portuguese Outlet Record, Manchester United have approached European super-agent Jorge Mendes in regards to signing Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos. Sportwitness who have translated the report by Record also mention that Ramos’ club Benfica are currently not interested in entering talks with United. Ramos has been on a roll with his impressive performances lately, which has caused his individual stock to skyrocket. He had already scored a hat-trick at the World Cup before the end of last year, and at only 21 years old, he possesses potential for growth that Ten Hag could help unlock.

After being second choice to Darwin Nunez at Benfica last season, Ramos has emerged as their leading striker since the Uruguayan’s departure. The 21-year-old has been in sensational form this term, netting an impressive 18 goals from 30 appearances for Benfica, and also displaying exceptional link-up play by registering eight assists.

Ramos’ potential is undeniable, as he has the makings of a complete striker who excels in big matches. He demonstrated this in his outstanding performance at the World Cup, where he got the surprise nod over Cristiano Ronaldo to lead the line against Switzerland in December. Ramos did not disappoint, delivering an assist and an incredible hat-trick to make headlines. Despite Manchester United’s hopes of leveraging their relationship with Mendes to secure Ramos, his current release clause of €120 million means that he won’t come cheap. However, his potential and impressive track record make him a promising investment for any team.
