After Manchester United captain Harry Maguire scored for England against Albania, he celebrated by cupping his hands to his ears and then blocked his ears with his fingers. Roy Keane who was covering this game as a pundit for ITV lambasted Maguire during half time.
“He’s been a disgrace the last few months for Manchester United. If he thinks he scores he’s going to shut his critics up… embarrassing.”

Although Maguire has the right to celebrate as he wishes, this was not the game to be celebrating that way. England are a much better team than Albania and the final score ended as 5-0. Maguire has been in poor form for his club Manchester United and scoring a goal against Albania doesn’t mean anything. The United captain has to concentrate on his club form and ensure that United do not suffer the harrowing defeats they had against Manchester City and Liverpool again.
England face lowly San Marino on Monday and just need a draw from that game to secure world cup qualification. Many of the England regulars like Harry Kane, Maguire, Shaw, Sterling and Rashford have had poor starts to the Premier League season. Southgate will be hoping that they get back in form soon, so that he can settle on a starting eleven for next year’s World Cup as soon as possible.
