English outlet Express reports that Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani will not be fit to play in the Manchester Derby on Saturday. The Express report cites Uruguayan journalist Rodrigo Romano as the source for this news. Cavani was a key player in United’s last Premier League game against Spurs which they won 3-0. His partnership with Ronaldo was exemplary as they combined brilliantly for Cavani’s goal against Spurs. Cavani’s relentless pressing also is vital for United as Ronaldo tends to focus on staying in dangerous areas rather than try to press the ball and win possession.

If Cavani is deemed unfit for the derby, Marcus Rashford is likely to replace him as the striker in Solskjaer’s 3-4-1-2 formation. Rashford’s pace will provide United with an advantage when they get a chance on the counter but against Atalanta when he did play upfront, the Englishman looked out of form. Solskjaer can also spring a surprise by playing Jadon Sancho or Jesse Lingard alongside Ronaldo but so far the Norwegian has shown that he isn’t willing to take big risks in terms of tactics or team selection.
