English outlet The Times are reporting that Manchester United have setup an emergency board meeting for today to discuss the future of Solskjaer after the disastrous 4-1 defeat against Watford.  Journalist Fabrizio Romano also reported that multiple officials are pushing to sack Solskjaer. The Times report also discusses that United are trying hard to sign Zinedine Zidane as the replacement. If Zidane does accept, he doesn’t have much time to prepare as United have a crucial Champions League fixture against Villarreal on Tuesday.

Although, Solskjaer will take the majority of the blame for United’s poor run of form. United’s players also have to take a fair share of the blame. If Zidane is appointed, we can expect him to start with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and pick the players suited to that formation.

Zidane’s predicted 4-3-3 formation against Villarreal

Zidane will want a compact midfield three just like the one he managed at Real Madrid. In Fernandes and Van de Beek, he will have two players who are good on the ball and in Matic, he will have an experienced defensive midfielder. Fernandes and Van de Beek both will have to play a more restrained game in a midfield 3 with more focus on maintaining a good structure when defending without the ball. In defence, Harry Maguire needs a break to clear his mind and come back fresh. Maguire has been in terrible form and Eric Bailly deserves a chance to replace him.
