There was shock all around when Barcelona completed the signing of Dani Alves as the Brazilian is seen to be too old at the moment to play for a club like Barcelona. Although he is not the marauding right wing back anymore, his experience is seen as key to help out the Barcelona squad which is very young at the moment.

Dani Alves will only be available starting in January as only when the transfer window opens, he can be registered to play. When available, he is not expected to be the first choice right back. Xavi has started his first game against Espanyol in a 4-3-3 formation with Oscar Mingueza as the right back who was replaced by Ronald Araujo. Both of them are not exactly attacking full-backs like Dani Alves was in his first stint at Barcelona. So when Sergino Dest is available, we can expect him to start as the right back and Alves will be the backup to the American.
