Arsenal make official bid for exciting winger

1 minute

English outlet Metro is reporting that Arsenal have made a bid of €7.5m for Romanian wonderkid Ianis Stoica. Stoica plays for the Romanian club FSCB commonly known as Steau who are currently 2nd in Liga 1, the highest league in Romania. Stoica generally plays as a winger but also can play in central midfield. Whether a deal can be done or not remains to be see as FSCB’s owner is reportedly also demanding a future transfer clause to be included.

Signing Stoica who is 18 years old, will fit in perfectly with Arsenal’s strategy of signing young players and developing them. But the current Arsenal squad has gaps in defence and in attack, positions where Stoica wouldn’t fit. Alexandre Lacazette’s contract is running out this summer and with their other striker Aubameyang’s form being inconsistent, Arsenal need to sign a forward to who can shoulder the bulk of their goalscoring. At the same time, Arsenal might also look to sign some defensive reinforcements as their current defence is young and inexperienced. There have also been reports that Arsenal might sign Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling in January on loan. If they manage to acquire Sterling, he will straightaway feature in the first team and will be a huge bonus to Arsenal’s aims of finishing in the top 4, this season.
