Manchester United have been in dismal form in the Premier League as they head into their crucial game against Liverpool. The Scousers on the other hand have been in tremendous form thanks to their talisman Mo Salah who is their leading goalscorer. Along with poor form, Solskjaer has to contend with injury problems as key players including Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Marcus Rashford are doubtful for the game against Liverpool.

Solskjaer when under pressure tends to perform well against the big sides. He tends to setup the team in two low blocks and then tries to attack on the counter using pacy wingers. For this tactic to work, he would need the much hated duo of Fred-McTominay to be fit and firing as they will have to do the dirty work of stopping attacks. Sitting back deep will also help negate the pace with which Liverpool attack and force them to play a more patient game.

If Bruno Fernandes is fit for the game, then we might have to see Paul Pogba on the bench again. Playing Pogba in a midfield two would be very risky against the Liverpool’s dynamic attack who tend to overwhelm teams with their pressing. Also with Ronaldo’s lack of intensity and pace, Marcus Rashford will have to shoulder the burden of defending United’s left side and also be ready to counter when the opportunity presents itself. If Rashford can’t start due to his injury troubles, this responsibility might fall on Jaden Sancho who has not had a great start to his career at Old Trafford.

Tactically, it will certainly be an interesting game, especially from a United’s perspective. We are all almost certain how Liverpool will turn up and play but it is United’s tactics and performance which will probably determine how the game turns out.

  1. Why don’t ole starts Cavani and Ronaldo at the forward, something fans had been yawning to see…think with this will win that game…

  2. This our great team coach Ole lack tactics to win a match . Ronaldo should play 7 and use Cavani as a striker. He is too dull for my liking. We need a discipline coach.

    1. We need to see cavani and ronaldo in front not to continue with ur formation we ae tired of that we need change

  3. Comment:man is stock with 4:2:3:1 no matter the situation tough or soft. big or small team. honestly speaking, any football person can coach like Olë. Olë gunner solskjaer is too predictable.

  4. Ole is good and very talented coach but he do not know to use the player in the right position like cr7 to be in 7 and cavani striking line you will see how man u will win thank

  5. hope we lost todays game for ole to go . He has a winning team but dont know how to use them . Very very sad

  6. problem always he want to play Maguire instead of bailly this stupid Maguire he is too slow guys you can’t see that don’t put him bcz he is a captain he is doing nothing there he just cost is errors guys STOP to put this guy

  7. Why does he keep using this defensive information all the time and yet we are still loosing, it’s high time ole has to leave, Manchester united is too big for him to handle. Cavan, Ronaldo, Rashford..
    Fernandes, pogba, matic…
Shaw, Bailly, varane, Bisaaka.. I think this 4-3-3 information is much better if truly he wants to win.
