Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho who has struggled to find form ever since his move from Liverpool is one of the players Newcastle United is interested in after the Saudi takeover according to a report by Spanish outlet Sport. Coutinho has been unable to reproduce his Liverpool form ever since he left the Premier League side to join Barcelona in a $148.50m transfer. He moved to Bayern for a season in a loan move hoping to rediscover the magic which made Barcelona pay such a huge fee but struggled in the Bundesliga as well.
A return to the Premier League might help Coutinho rediscover his Liverpool form as he is more suited to the fast paced nature of the Premier League. He was at his best when he started on the left for Liverpool cutting inside to be a direct threat to goal. This role is something he would be able to replicate at a club like Newcastle against whom teams do not tend to sit back.
With the Saudi takeover, Newcastle United is expected to spend big money in the forthcoming transfer windows. Initially they might not be able to attract the best talent in Europe but signing players like Coutinho who are currently out of favour but have a point to prove might help the club quickly rise up and take the next step to becoming a major European force.
