According to the English outlet The Sun, Sir Alex Ferguson wanted Manchester United to sign Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn. In a more recent report, The Sun also claims that Sir Alex will keep a close eye on McGinn’s performances before recommending him to Manchester United. The Sun base this report of Bobby Jenks’ comments who is a former Villa scout. Jenks reportedly told The Athletic that Sir Alex will push the decision-makers at Old Trafford to sign the Villa midfielder.

After Sir Alex retired, it is unclear how much involved he is with Manchester United. The last big decision he influenced was, of course, the hiring of David Moyes which in hindsight was probably Ferguson’s biggest mistake at Old Trafford. But with no sign of improvement on the pitch, Ed Woodward and the Glazers might want Sir Alex to get involved a bit more on how the club is run especially the football side of affairs.
