According to the English outlet, The Sun, Premier League club Sheffield United are interested in signing Brentford forward Ollie Watkins. Watkins can play anywhere across the front three but his recent form in a central role has attracted attention from Sheffield United. Another Premier League club, Crystal Palace were previously interested in Watkins but were priced out from making a deal. It remains to be seen whether Palace who have made an excellent start to the Premier League season reignite their interest in signing Watkins.

The Sun is the source of this transfer rumour and the English outlet are a Tier 5 source in our Football Transfer Sources Reliability Guide. A Tier 5 source is highly unreliable with their reporting, so unless other sources pick up this story, Sheffield United fans should not get their hopes up too high.

Sheffield United have made a decent start to the season and find themselves in the 13th position at the moment. They are only 2 points above the relegation zone currently and it would be wise for them to invest in new signings in the January transfer window. But with the danger of relegation ever present for newly promoted sides, the contracts being offered to players should have relegation clauses so that club is able to retain them even if they are relegated to the Championship.
