Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a dream start to his managerial career at Old Trafford with Manchester United winning 9 out of their 10 games since Ole took over. There have been a few jittery moments in those 10 games especially against Spurs and Leicester, but the improvement in the attack has been tremendous and credit must go to the manager for having managed to turn it around so quickly. Let’s take a look at Manchester United’s formation under the Norwegian as the starting formation has been key to the change of United’s fortunes on the pitch
Straight from the first match, Ole made it clear that he doesn’t expect Paul Pogba to play in a 2 man midfield because of which his preferred formation so far has been the 4-3-3 formation.

The 4-3-3 allows Pogba to be in more advanced areas which has enabled the Frenchman to play the best football ever in his United career. This combined with Solskjaer’s preference of players like Lingard and Rashford who are willing to make the runs has turn United into a deadly counterattacking machine. Although currently, Jesse Lingard has been preferred to Alexis Sanchez, the Chilean now has the perfect setup to show his talent at Old Trafford and we expect him to do so.
