Real Madrid are plotting a huge transfer move to sign Manchester City star Raheem Sterling in the January transfer window, reports the English outlet Express. Sterling still has not signed a new contract with City with his existing contract set to expire in 18 months. He reportedly is asking for a £100,000 per week raise over his existing £175,000 per week wage. With City clearly offering him a lower wage, they run the risk of letting him enter the dreaded final year of his contract.
Real Madrid have had a torrid start to the season and Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure has proven a bigger loss than they expected. Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have struggled with the additional responsibility with the Frenchman especially looking completely off-color so far this season. Real Madrid president is expected to make some big signings either in January or in the summer. Although, Real Madrid have moved away from their “Galactico” policy, spending huge amounts of money on transfers is a must in modern football. No club can escape this reality.
