According to the Express, Barcelona have agreed a five year deal with Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, although a fee is yet to be agree between the two clubs. The report also claims that Manchester United had sent scouts to watch the Frenchman as Jose Mourinho is reportedly on the lookout for a central defender. Barcelona fans must be hoping that Lenglet will be the backup for Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti after Barcelona’s shock 5-4 loss against Levante when backup defenders Yerry Mina and Thomas Vermaelen failed to impress.

There have been reports that Samuel Umtiti has attracted interest from other clubs after his contract negotiations with Barcelona have stalled. Barcelona fans will be hoping that the Frenchman will sign a new contract and stay on at the club as he has managed to forge a tremendous partnership with Gerard Pique. Even Umtiti has been linked to Manchester United along with Premier League star Toby Alderweireld who again has failed to resolve contract issues with his club.

It is clear that Jose Mourinho wants to sign another central defender although United have about 6 of them at the moment. Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are the best out of the lot  but both of them have struggled with injuries so far this season.
