Manchester United are now reportedly the front runners to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this month. Although signing Sanchez would not change the fact that Manchester City will win the Premier League this season, with the Chilean, United will have a fighting chance to do well in the Champions League. Sanchez has played on the left as well as up top for Arsenal recently but with Romelu Lukaku in the squad, the Chilean is expected to start for United on the left.

Jose Mourinho will switch to the 4-3-3 formation as Alexis Sanchez generally is reluctant to track back and Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1 formation demands a lot of defensive work from the wingers. One player who could be upset with the arrival of Sanchez is Anthony Martial who has operated from the left mostly in his United career. Martial who needs to be playing regularly at this stage of his career might find his first team chances limited.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is rumoured to be moving the other way to Arsenal in this deal. The Armenian has struggled this season to make any sort of an impact for United. It is clear that Mourinho doesn’t favour him anymore. He is worth a gamble for Arsenal as the potential is there in him to be a class player.
