Manchester United’s former manager Louis Van Gaal wants Daley Blind who signed for United from Ajax to quit the club in order to get more playing time. The Dutchman urged Blind to quit United for Barcelona who are reportedly interested in him. Van Gaal believes that Barcelona’s style is more suited to Blind and that he is wasting his career at United. Blind has rarely played in the Premier League this season but it is hard to see how would he get more playing time at the Camp Nou.
Van Gaal said, “Daley Blind is better off going to Barcelona, than staying with Man United.”
“He is not even on the bench for United sometimes. Daley can play in more than one position and at Barcelona he would never be sat in the stand.”
Blind is a versatile player who can play as a center back, left back or even in midfield. His playing style is better suited to the La Liga and especially suited to Barcelona. Comfortable with the ball at his feet, Blind’s Ajax background would make it easier for him to integrate with Barcelona squad. But if he wants regular playing time, Blind has to move to a club a level below Europe’s elite. Moving to Barcelona might grant him some extra time on the pitch but he would be nowhere close to being a regular.
