Manchester United have a terrible record against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League having won only once there since 2002. But Jose Mourinho has a great chance to ensure that his side come away with all the three points this time out with Chelsea in poor form and low morale after their humiliating defeat against Roma. Against Spurs, although there was a lot of criticism directed towards Mourinho’s tactics, he actually selected an attacking lineup. Marcus Rashford along with Mkhitaryan were in support of Romelu Lukaku upfront. The game turned out to be a cagey affair because both the teams cancelled out each other on the pitch but United pushed forward in the second half and eventually got the winner from a long ball.

Against Chelsea, unlike against Liverpool, Mourinho is expected to choose a back three formation which will allow him to play an additional forward in support of Lukaku. Mourinho in his pre-match press conference hinted that some of the injured players might be fit for Chelsea which most likely would be Paul Pogba who has returned to training. If Pogba is available, he certainly will be picked in midfield. If not, Mkhitaryan is expected to continue as the number 10 but mostly in a much deeper role than the one he played against Spurs.

The last time Conte and Mourinho faced off, the Portuguese pulled off a tactical masterclass which involved Herrera man-marking Hazard out of the game. Expect Mourinho to follow a similar template with Herrera reprising his role from the last game.
