Liverpool received a major injury blow today ahead of their fixture against rivals Manchester United as Sadio Mane is ruled out for the next 6 weeks. Mane along with Salah has been Liverpool’s bright spark in their troubled start to the season. In Mane’s absence, Klopp will be forced to move Coutinho out wide. Other options would be to move Firmino to the left and start Daniel Sturridge as the striker or to start Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right and Salah on the left. It is unlikely that Klopp will choose either option as neither Chamberlain nor Sturridge have played much this season nor have they impressed when given the chance.

Liverpool Expected Starting Lineup against Manchester United

The midfield three will be Jordan Henderson, Wijnaldum and Emre Can. Liverpool’s defense has rightly been blamed this season for the team’s poor results but the midfield has to take up an equal share of the blame. Wijnaldum has been quite poor this season and his poor form continued in the international break with the Netherlands. Jurgen Klopp knows that Jose Mourinho will set up his team deep and play on the counter. The German has to adapt accordingly otherwise it will be another game where Liverpool have all the ball but lose at the end of the day.
