Chelsea have had an up and down transfer window with Antonio Conte seemingly upset at the board’s refusal in splurging money. But in the end, Chelsea did manage to sign Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta on a tumultuous final day which also them miss out on Ross Barkley and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Add Alvaro Morata, Bakayoko and Rudiger to Chelsea’s two deadline day signing, things don’t seem that bad. But last season’s two goalscorers, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa are yet to start a game. Hazard will slowly start regaining fitness after a injury layoff but Costa might never play against for the club. But their biggest blunder in the transfer window might be selling Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United. Matic fits United’s needs perfectly and has started the season brilliantly. Take a look at the video below to understand why Chelsea have made such a huge mistake.

Both Drinkwater and Zappacosta are not expected to be in the starting eleven straightaway. But unlike Drinkwater, Zappacosta will get opportunities to stake a claim to the right wing back spot with only Moses ahead of him. Chelsea have numerous options in central midfield in Kante, Bakayoko, Fabregas and even David Luiz, so it is highly unlikely that Drinkwater will be able to play much.
