Man United expected lineup against Real Madrid- Mourinho to opt for the new look 3-5-2 formation

New signing Nemanja Matic might make his competitive debut against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final at Skopje on Tuesday. Jose Mourinho admitted that although Matic is not as match fit as some of the other members of the squad, he is available for selection. Mourinho has flirted with various formations during United’s pre-season but majorly has opted to play with the 3-5-2 formation. Even in the last game against Sampdoria he set his team out in the 3-5-2 formation which is a clear indication of his mindset for the Real game.

Jose Mourinho knows that Manchester United need to be at their very best inorder to even compete with Real Madrid. The European Champions have a strong and settled first 11 backed by a similarly strong squad. Mourinho will have to be at his pragmatic best in order for United to beat the European Champions at Skopje. We might see some United players specially instructed to man-mark Real’s players. Stopping the midfield of Modric and Kroos is crucial to cutting off the supply to Real’s forwards and Mourinho might entrust this job to Herrera and Matic both of whom are accomplished man markers.
