With multiple reports confirming that PSG are close to signing signing both Alexis Sanchez and Neymar, this transfer window might signal a huge power shift in European football. PSG have shown that money and ambition can negate other factors like the league you are playing in and history. New investors can now look at the smaller leagues to buy clubs at a much cheaper cost and turn them into an European superclub. But only time will tell whether this makes the Champions League a more even playing field or makes the gap between the rich and poor even wider.

With already a plethora of attacking options at PSG, Emery will have his work cut out to fit in all of them next season. Both Sanchez and Neymar will go straight to the first team and probably even Dani Alves.

PSG Formation 2017/2018

The biggest problem Emery will have this summer is placating the likes of Julain Draxler, Hatem Ben Arfa, Adrien Rabiot, Jese, Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore that they are still important part of his plans and keep the squad happy. The Champions League final will be a minimum for Emery as winning the French League won’t mean much to someone like Neymar.

It is clear that Neymar wants to be the best player in the world and with the World Cup in Russia coming up, he feels that this is the best season to step out from Messi’s shadow. Only winning the Champions League will make the move to PSG a successful one for Neymar. Barcelona on the other hand should use the money wisely and improve their squad, there is a serious risk that they are in an irreversible decline. Messi singlehandedly has kept Barcelona at the top for the past few seasons but having turned 30, he can’t keep doing it for much longer.
