The Sun quoting Diario Gol claims that Jose Mourinho wants United to chase Barcelona star Neymar instead of bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. Financially this move would make more sense than signing Ronaldo who is 32 now and will cost around £130m. Neymar has his best years ahead of him and potentially he could easily dominate world football after Messi and Ronaldo.

So far Manchester United have been active in the transfer market but they have managed to sign only Victor Lindelof from Benfica. Nemanja Matic and Fabinho are reportedly close to signing for United but nothing has been confirmed yet. United need a striker to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and so far their attempts to sign Morata have been futile. The Ronaldo rumours have died down for a few days now and United can get back to the negotiating table with Real for Morata. Mourinho has made it clear that he is not involved in signing in the players and it is Ed Woodward who is solely responsible for signing them. Of course, Mourinho would have the last say on any transfer in and out of the club.
