3 players Antonio Conte can sign for Chelsea to replace Nemanja Matic

2 minutes

With Nemanja Matic’s departure to Manchester United almost confirmed, Conte needs to identify an replacement immediately as the transfer window shuts in a month. Transfer deals have become overly complicated in recent times and with hyperinflation especially for English clubs, it becomes even more harder to get deals done in a short span of time. Although, the English champions have already signed a central midfielder in Bakayoko, they desperately need a rotation option in central midfield.

Fabinho

Chelsea have already raided Monaco for a central midfielder and they will do well if they get another. Fabinho has been linked with various top clubs this summer but surprisingly all the rumours have died down. He would be an excellent signing for the blues but might be concerned at the competition ahead of him with Kante and Bakayoko set to be first team choices.

Eric Dier

Daniel Levy is a really tough negotiator and Jose Mourinho will tell you how hard it is to prise Eric Dier away from Spurs. Dier’s ability to play at both CB and DM is a bonus and Chelsea have the funds to buy Dier in what will most likely be a highly overpriced deal.

Steven N’Zonzi

N’Zonzi was in tremendous form last season for Sevilla and has been attracting the attention of Barcelona and Spurs this summer. N’Zonzi can control the tempo, win the ball and has already played in the Premier League, so all in all would be an excellent signing for Chelsea.

It is clear that Chelsea’s current squad needs some reinforcements for the new season as they have European football this season. Last season, they were lucky with injuries and Conte simply had no need to change the midfield pairing of Kante and Matic the entire season.
