Manchester United’s target, Alvaro Morata might not be let go by Real Madrid as intense speculation about Ronaldo’s future has threatened to leave them short of attacking options according to the Spanish outlet AS.

Talks between United and Real Madrid were believed to be in the final stages and Morata was expected to be announced soon as a Manchester United player. But the Ronaldo story has engulfed the whole football world since the last two days and now is threatening to sabotage Morata’s transfer. If Ronaldo actually leaves, Real Madrid can offer Morata a starting place which has been the biggest issue for Morata at Real Madrid.

L’Equipe claim that United are still in touch with representatives of Alexander Lacazette with the Frenchman being United’s backup option if they fail to get Morata. Mourinho’s transfer plans will certainly have been affected by the Cristiano Ronaldo story. United fans shouldn’t get excited as they have been multiple occasions where players across Europe leveraged United’s interest in them for a better contract.
