After the failed big to sign Virgil Van Dijk, Liverpool are back to their favorite hunting ground, Southampton. According to The Times Liverpool are interested in signing Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic.
Liverpool need to strengthen their squad as they prepare for a Champions League campaign this season. Last season, Liverpool struggled in January & February when they were missing key players due to injuries and international commitment. With additional games this season due to the participation in the Champions League, it is vital that Klopp strengthens the squad.
Whether Southampton will be willing to deal with Liverpool is a big question mark. Liverpool have repeatedly over the years bought Southampton’s best players and this season’s pursuit of Virgil Van Dijk proved to be the final straw. After the Saints complained to the FA regarding Liverpool’s illegal approach, the Reds stopped their pursuit of the highly rated Dutch international.
Van Dijk is still expected to leave this summer but it is highly unlikely that Anfield will be his destination. Liverpool shouldn’t make the same mistakes as they did in the pursuit of VvD again this summer.
