With Manchester United having submitted bid for Monaco defensive midfielder Fabinho, we take a look at how the Brazilian could fit in at United if he actually moves to Old Trafford this summer. Manchester United’s midfield last year consisted a combination of Herrera and Pogba with Fellaini added in the mix for the big games. Although, Fellaini has been crucial in some big games for Mourinho, his presence put extra burden on Pogba.

Paul Pogba’s best position is in a midfield 3. At Juventus he excelled in an advanced left sided role in a midfield diamond. At Manchester United however he has mostly played part of a midfield two. Even when Mourinho has opted for an extra midfielder, Pogba generally has taken up a deeper role. By signing Fabinho, Pogba can play as the most advanced midfielder which arguably will bring the best out of the Frenchman.

Fabinho can also play at Right Back and will provide a rotation option for Valencia. A midfield three of Pogba-Herrera-Fabinho has the potential to dominate most midfields in Europe, these are sure exciting times for United fans.
