Luis Enrique has announced that he will leave at the end of the season no matter what happens on the pitch. Enrique has been under pressure for quite sometime now as Barcelona have been poor in the league and required a historic comeback against PSG to stay in the Champions League. Barcelona under Enrique have lost control of the center of the pitch. Teams are pressing high and the Barcelona midfield is actually ceding control when under pressure. It is clear that the squad needs an overhaul and the club as a whole needs a new direction.
Who will replace Luis Enrique?
Jorge Sampaoli
Although recently speculation has cooled off a bit with Sampaoli’s Sevilla were knocked out of the Champions League and were beaten in the league by Aletico Madrid, Sevilla this season have been magnificent. Sampaoli enforces a fierce pressing style and will be perfect for Barcelona.
Thomas Tuchel
One of the most talented young coaches in Europe, Tuchel is the manager of one of Europe’s youngest and exciting squads. Although he has had his share of ups and downs, Tuchel is one of the most sought after managers right now and Barca have to act quick to sign him.
Frank de Boer
Former Barca player, de Boer was sacked from his Inter job which considerably damaged his reputation. But de Boer is an intelligent coach who understands the Barcelona philosophy well.
Xavi Hernandez
Barcelona’s three most iconic teams had three iconic orchestrators namely, Johan Cruiff, Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernandez. Two of them managed Barcelona and won the Champions League, the third one also is expected to do the same.
