Manchester United’s leading goalscorer this season Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been stalling on signing an extension with United because of his concerns over missing out on Champions League football next season. According to The Mirror, Zlatan knows that the next season might be his last in Europe and he wants one last shot at the Champions League. But with United at sixth position in the league, the Swede might not be able to play the Champions League at Old Trafford next season.
Although Mourinho has refuted claims that Zlatan might leave, it is a surprise that the Swede hasn’t signed an extension so far to his deal. It clearly shows that there has been reluctance from the player’s side rather than the club’s side as United at the moment are heavily dependent on the former PSG striker for goals. The Europa League might prove to be a simpler entry to the Champions League for United, but there is a long way to go in the tournament. They have been drawn against Rostov and face a difficult away trip to Russian where Bayern Munich have already lost this season.
