Manchester United youth player Tahith Chong has suffered a serious knee injury and will have a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Manchester Evening News reported that the Dutch forward injured himself playing against the Everton U-18s. The Dutch players was signed from Feyenoord last season and is one of the most exciting players in the United youth setup. Serious injuries at this early stage of the career can ruin a player’s career, so utmost care has to be taken to ensure that Chong gets the right treatment and he returns to his best.

One of the criticisms this season directed at Mourinho is his lack of faith in the youth players. This changed in the games against Wigan in the FA cup where he started Timothy Fosu-Mensah and gave debuts Axel Tuanzebe and Joel Pereira. We also saw Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw returning to the starting lineup with the Frenchman playing well in the second half. Unfortunately Shaw has struggled this season and Mourinho doesn’t seem to trust him. Shaw has age on his side but need to show improvement in form to cement his place as the first choice left back at Manchester United.
