According to Sky Sports, Championship side Queens Park Rangers have agreed a £500,000 fee for Manchester United midfielder Sean Goss. Goss was known for his passing ability in the United youth setup but injuries had affected his career at Old Trafford by majorly hindering his first team changes.
Goss was ranked 7 in our Manchester United Youth Rankings for 2016.
Before Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard’s emergence under Louis Van Gaal, United’s famed youth setup was struggling to provide talent for the first team. On the other hand, Manchester City has spent extensively on it’s academy and its scouting system leaving their neighbors far behind.
Manchester United pride themselves on promoting youth from their academy but serious efforts have to be made at the ground level to ensure that they remain the top draw for the best footballing talent in England. Ed Woodward also needs to explore expanding the loan system as Jose Mourinho prefers to play his best team always and rarely takes a risk in giving youth chance. Even Rashford has found his opportunities limited this season.
