Manchester United’s defender Eric Bailly according to The Mirror will probably be back for United’s game against Sunderland on boxing day. Bailly was injured in the game against Crystal Palace where he was deployed as a right back. Although further medical tests are yet to be done, initial tests revealed that the injury was not serious. The Ivory Coast international is certain to miss United’s clash against West Brom this weekend. Bailly has just returned from a 2 month injury layoff and is set to leave for the AFCON in January.

Initially it did seem that United will struggle to replace their summer signing but Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones have formed an excellent partnership at the heart of United’s defence. Even after Bailly returned, Mourinho has deployed him as a defensive midfielder against Spurs and as a right back against Crystal Palace not wanting to disturb the partnership between Rojo and Jones. It will be interesting to see who Mourinho favours when Smalling and Bailly return to full fitness.
