The Sun Journalist Neil Custis has tweeted that Bastian Schweinsteiger might be on the bench tonight against West Ham.

Mourinho recalled the German into first team training after initially asking him to train with the reserves. Michael Carrick’s performances have highlighted how much a deep lying playmaker is useful to the current United team. With many players who prefer to play as the number 10 in United’s squad, there is a imbalance especially when it comes to midfield. Mata, Fellaini, Pogba and Rooney are all better players in more advanced roles than in a deeper role. Thankfully for Mourinho, Herrera has been a revelation in his new deeper role this season although Morgan Schneiderlin is still struggling to fit in at Manchester United.

In defence, United still have some problems with both Bailly and Smalling out of contention, but Jones’ form is a positive sign. The former Blackburn defender has had a torrid time with injuries so far in his career but it looks like he finally can nail down a starting spot and fulfill his potential.
