Next weekend is the Manchester Derby which sees rivals Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho face each other for the first time in the Premier League. Man United have started the season well but City have adapted to Guardiola’s methods quicker than expected. United’s win against Hull was largely a sterile display by Mourinho’s team reminding everyone that the team is still tuned to Van Gaal’s “Philosophy” . Late cameos from Rashford and Mkhitaryan put the Hull defence under heavy pressure and the former managed to snatch the winner at the end.

Although United fans would love to see Rashford and Mkhitaryan start against City, the Armenian injured himself on international duty and it is highly unlikely for Mourinho to give a teenager his first start of the season in a game of such magnitude. Antonio Valencia is only expected to be back at Manchester on Friday, thereby making it very tough for Mourinho to select him for a Saturday afternoon kick off. Matteo Darmian is expected to replace Valencia with Phil Jones and Timothy Fosu Mensah also in contention.
